Welcome!

There is a famous story about a man who was taking $100's worth of Ginseng for his symptoms of poor appetite, lowered energy, and poor digestion. However after no relief, he went to see a Chinese Herbal Doctor who prescribed a handful of radish seeds, after which the man's condition improved dramatically. This was because his symptoms were from stagnation in his stomach, rather than deficiency. The saying is, " 75 cents worth of radish seeds can cure what $100.00 of ginseng couldn't " and the meaning is that the proper diagnosis and treatment is everything. This is what I am offerring to you. cost to you.

Many people send me questions about this disease and that disease. However my reply is invariably that the name is only a label put on by Western Medicine and tells nothing about the nature of the disease and your relationship to the "dis" ease. If you have specific questions about a disease, please fill out my assessment form .to send email Dr. Kelley

For a brief history about myself. I became necessarily involved in health care after a serious horseback accident in 1974, which resulted in exploratory surgery and a spleenectomy. After several years of diet regimes, five and one-half years in the Natural Foods Industry, and pre med school, I became interested in Chinese Medicine while living in Santa Fe in 1982. A Cirriculum Vitae is linked.

Scince Spring of 1988 I had been working in Denver as an Acupuncturist, Chinese Herbal Doctor, Chinese Medicine Teacher at The Colorado School of Traditional Chinese Medicine, and doing NIH funded research at Denver General Hospital. In 1996 I transferred to Hawaii for a year to participate at Health Quest, Spa Hapuna, emphasizing Wellness, Prevention, and Rejuvenation. It is durring this time I adopted the "alohadoc" name. In 1997, I returned to Littleton Colorado to work with a large multidisciplinary clinic, American WholeHealth, offerring integrative health care using both Standard Medical Therapies as well as complimentary modalities. Now in 1999, I have returned to Hawaii to further develop the Wellness, Prevention, and Rejuvenation theme with Hawii Total Wellness Retreats offerring Heart Centered Healling weeks. I continue to be available through the internet for information, recomendations, and Herbal Formulas.

I have seen and treated a number of disorders and especially degenerative disorders, dubbed "Chronic Sub Clinical Everything Syndrome". Here is a a list, all falling under the general heading of Internal Medicine, which I have experienced good results in treating with Herbal Therapy (as opposed to musculoskeletal problems which respond better to Acupuncture and body work).

Chronic Immune Deficiency Syndrome with the related disorders of Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, Fibromyalgia, Depression, Chronic Sinusitis, Insomnia, Lingering Infections (esp.Lung ), poor digestion, Gastric Distress (Irritable Bowel Syndrome), Candita, Allergies, Infertility, and Autoimmune Disorders like Lupus, Thrombocyte Apenia, Anemia, and MS. Also adjunctive treatment for Cancer therapy, for lowered WBC's, lowered immunity, insomnia, lethargy, and pain. Lung syndromes including as said, lingering infections, but also Asthma. Also recovery from severe illness, trauma, and stroke ( I was on staff at Vencore Hospital for post Stroke care). HIV treatment. (I was on staff at Denver General Hospital for research on Peripheral Neuropathy, CPCRA, for 3 years) Degenerative disorders, also akin to the patterns of chronic deficiency syndromes, including adult onset Diabetes and Osteo Arthritis. I have had success with a range of Gynecological problems including dysmennorhea, ammennorhea, bleeding (spotting), irregular periods, uterine myoma, ovarian cysts, threatened miscarriage, infertility, and endomitriosis.

I must say, however, that a list is limiting ( and misleading) since Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) generally treats differentiated syndromes according to TCM principles rather than according to named disorder. That is, we treat the pattern of disharmony, such as Liver Spleen disharmony with underlying Kidney Qi emptiness, rather than " PMS". Furthermore, this pattern could refer to any number of named disorders, for example "Chronic Fatigue syndrome". This is referenced to by the axiom of, "One treatment for many diseases and one disease has many treatments".

With the advancement of modern Western diagnostics, biochemistry, Pharmacology, etc., there have been many cross over studies between the systems to interrelate the two.The modern Herbalist has to be able to bridge the gap between Modern Science and the Traditional Medicine, including differentiating the syndrome, being knowledgeable in formulation, Herbal Medicine, the Pharmacology, how to interpret the results, make changes throughout the treatment, and give explanations and educational information to the patient about these changes from both the Modern Medicine view as well as the TCM view.

As a practitioner, I am dedicated to helping people first and foremost, and as such, have spent much time sending free information and will continue to do so to a point.
